The SCAD Museum does not have its own mobile app. This project presents a low-fidelity blueprint for a simple, intuitive app that gives visitors the essentials while keeping the experience clean and easy to use.

A user-focused approach to improving the museum’s mobile experience by creating clear navigation, simple flows, and a visual layout that helps visitors navigate with ease.

1. Project Overview
This concept explores how an existing museum experience could translate into a dedicated mobile app. The goal was to keep the layout functional on mobile while using strong visuals and clear hierarchy to guide visitors through exhibitions, programs, and ticketing.

2. "The Problem"
The museum’s website worked on mobile, but it didn’t encourage deeper engagement or easy exploration of what the museum offers.

Understanding the Existing Mobile Experience
What if the museum had its own app experience
Strong visual identity and great imagery
Functional layout that translates well to mobile

3. My Approach
I created a low-fidelity blueprint for a museum app to test flow and content hierarchy before focusing on visuals. I mapped key journeys like discovering exhibitions, planning a visit, and booking tickets. The focus was on clarity, consistency, and thumb-friendly navigation.

The wireframe prototype includes:
-
Home
-
Opening hours
-
Exhibition list & exhibition details
-
Visit page
-
Programs & events (list + details)Book tickets
-
Bottom navigation with Home, Exhibitions, Visit Us, Profile for easy thumb reach

Problem
The site worked well on mobile but lacked deeper engagement
Exploration
Exploration
Sketched and mapped key flows to make content easier to navigate
Solution
Created a low-fi wireframe to test hierarchy and flow before visuals

4. Outcome
This project lays the foundation for a responsive museum app experience. If developed further, it could evolve from a blueprint into a fully interactive app that helps visitors quickly discover what’s on, plan their visit, and stay connected to the museum.

5. Reflection
This project helped me focus on clarity and consistency. I learned how important it is to create a layout that is easy to use on mobile. The low-fi wireframes helped me test the flow before adding visuals. This made the content easier to navigate. I also learned that strong visuals must support the structure, not replace it. This blueprint gave me a clear view of how the museum could engage users in a better way. If this concept were fully developed, it would move from a simple blueprint into a live, responsive mobile app experience.
If this concept were fully developed, it would transition from blueprint to a live, responsive app experience.
